Transparency Board increases oil price to 205 lek/liter - New price ceilings are determined
The Transparency Board published this Tuesday the new decision on fuel prices in the country, which will enter into force on May 19, 2026, from 5:00 PM.
According to the decision, the retail price for SSH EN 590 standard diesel is set at no more than 205 lek/liter, while the wholesale price is set at 193 lek/liter.
Meanwhile, gasoline will be traded at a maximum price of 189 lek/liter in retail and 177 lek/liter in wholesale. The prices will remain in effect until the next Board meeting, where new market changes will be reflected.
The authorities warned oil by-product trading operators about the mandatory implementation of the decision, emphasizing that in case of violations, a suspension of activity will be imposed.
The announcement also clarifies that, based on Normative Act No. 1, dated April 3, 2026, the 80% excise tax reduction applies only when the price of diesel exceeds 220 lek/liter or gasoline 200 lek/liter. Given that current prices are below these limits, the excise tax will continue to be applied at the full 100% level.
