Vocational education aims to expand - Rama: Salaries of tourism workers, the

Prime Minister Edi Rama stated that vocational education in the country has undergone a significant transformation in recent years. At the 3rd National Conference on Vocational Education and Training, Rama said that the government's objective is that in the future one in three students will follow this educational path.

"Today is an important day, as 3,500 vocational education graduates are taking their exams. It is also a day when the balance so far is significant and very encouraging."

When we started this path, we found a degraded and useless vocational education for young people, who did not find the necessary conditions there to learn their trade. There were no laboratories, minimal infrastructural conditions were lacking, and there was no connection between vocational education and the labor market.

"Today the situation is completely different. Young people who choose vocational education make up 20% of students and this is just a phase, as our goal is for one in three students to choose vocational education ," said Rama.

Further, the Prime Minister said that large foreign investments are not intended to recruit foreign employees at low costs.

"The idea that resorts are for the rich or for workers from the Philippines and Bangladesh because they are paid less is an idea that has no connection to reality."

First, we do not have a high number of investors in tourism. Only recently has there been an interest, which is related to the success of tourism. Previously, there was almost zero interest. Albania and Albanian nature were as beautiful as they are today, but there was no interest in investing. Despite the problems and shortcomings that the development of construction in tourism has had, things have improved. Construction costs have increased and so have prices.

"There are no hotel investments in Albania where the employee salary is lower than in Greece or Croatia," the prime minister said.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Economy and Innovation, Delina Ibrahimaj, said that the country needs a stable workforce .

"Investors no longer just ask about taxes, land or infrastructure. One of the first questions they ask is whether they will find the people they need. This is where the investment race is won or lost. Human capital remains the most sustainable competitive advantage an economy can build," said the Minister.

Currently, over 17 thousand young people are attending vocational education in 31 public schools across the country.
