Over 108 thousand Albanians active in the US labor market / However, 41.3% of immigrant families benefit from state social assistance

Data released by the American Community Survey provides a more in-depth look at how Albanians in the United States are positioned in the labor market, reflecting not only the level of employment, but also the degree of economic integration between generations. Statistics show that the Albanian community continues to remain one of the most active immigrant communities in terms of work engagement, especially among the first generation.
Statistics show that there are about 206 thousand Albanian immigrants in the USA. According to the figures, over 108 thousand Albanians over the age of 16 are employed in the USA, where the main weight falls on first-generation immigrants, who make up more than half of the total. This indicator proves that the first arrival in the USA is mainly associated with economic goals and rapid integration into the labor market, often in sectors that require high commitment and long-term stability. Meanwhile, the second generation, born or raised in the USA, displays a more differentiated profile, where work is often combined with education and professional specialization.
On the other hand, the unemployment rate in the Albanian community remains relatively low, with around 6,800 people unemployed, a figure that suggests a good degree of inclusion in the labor market compared to other immigrant communities. However, a significant portion, around 46 thousand Albanians, are not actively part of the labor force. This category includes students, retirees, stay-at-home parents or individuals who, for various reasons, are not actively looking for work.
Another significant element is the presence of Albanians in the US Armed Forces, where 235 people currently serve, reflecting a high level of trust and institutional integration. Also, the President of the United States, Donald Trump, has published on his social platform Truth Social two tables that reflect data on the benefit of social assistance by immigrant families in the US, among which are also families of Albanian origin. Statistics show that about 41.3% of Albanian immigrant families in the US benefit from the social assistance schemes of the American state. These data also include Kosovo, where according to the tables, 46% of immigrant families living in the US are beneficiaries of social assistance.
