900 animal product establishments are being "scanned" - Rama to businesses: Meet EU standards, otherwise you will go bankrupt

Albania's membership in the European Union will open up a number of opportunities for Albanian businesses that meet food safety standards, but on the other hand, it risks bankrupting those that do not meet them.
The problem is to inform the enterprise about what awaits it. What awaits the enterprise in the EU accession process is a double-edged sword. On the one hand, a horizon of opportunities for those who are prepared and on the other hand, an abyss of bankruptcy for those who are not prepared. And when it comes to food safety, which has the most sensitive part related to animal products, we must make it clear to all those who have invested even in a small dairy, that tomorrow will be fatal if they are not ready with standards. The standards must be 100 percent, for all those who are 100% of the sector.
At the food safety conference, the Prime Minister emphasized that the European Union is scanning 900 animal product establishments in the country, which will have to meet standards.
The EU has brought in experts who have seen the situation and left a series of tasks, and we, through the inspectorate, must act with 900 entities in Albania that are at risk, that must meet the standards, as they can be closed or excluded from the market from the day of accession.
For his part, the Ambassador of the EU Delegation in Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, emphasized that meeting food safety requirements is a crucial step for the country towards membership.
"Albania has already made significant progress, the direction is clear, but the next steps will be crucial. The 6 chapters on food safety are open and their fulfillment will require political leadership and commitment from the food sector."
Since April 14, the National Food Authority has launched a scan of over 900 meat, egg, dairy, and fish establishments in all regions of the country, with the aim of identifying problems and providing assistance to businesses to meet EU requirements.
