"New Port of Durrës, a strategic regional hub" - Karakaçi: The foreign company withdrew from the competition due to increased costs
The Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, during an interpellation in the Parliament, explained the reasons why the only company in the competition withdrew. According to Krakaçi, Porto Romano is a project with high standards and for this reason the tendering is also difficult.
"Porto Romano is a project that requires time and high standards, this also brings difficulties in tendering. It is an investment for future generations.
"The procurement procedure has a special law. There were two tender procedures from world-renowned companies. The only one that met the conditions was withdrawn because its costs increased," said Karakaçi.
Karakaçi also spoke about the capacities of the new port and the necessity of its construction, and emphasized that the Durrës Marina has no influence on the port.
The minister also said that this port is intended to be an important regional hub.
