The Transparency Board increases the price of oil to 208 lek/liter

The Transparency Board has decided to increase the price of diesel in the country, at a meeting held on April 30, 2026. According to the latest decision, the retail price of diesel will be no more than 208 lek/liter, while the wholesale price will be up to 196 lek/liter.

This decision marks an increase compared to the previous price published by the Board, where oil was traded at 203 lek/liter in retail and 191 lek/liter in wholesale.

Meanwhile, gasoline has also increased, being set at a maximum of 185 lek/liter for retail and 173 lek/liter for wholesale.

The new prices came into effect today, April 30, at 1:00 PM and will remain valid until a new decision by the Board. The authorities have warned fuel trading operators of the mandatory implementation of this decision, while in case of violations, strict measures will be applied, up to and including suspension of activity.

The responsible institutions emphasize that they are committed to protecting consumers and ensuring fair competition in the market. Also, according to the official explanation, current prices remain below the limits set by the Normative Act on Excise Taxes, which means that the excise tax level will continue to be fully applied, at 100%.
